Editing Templates

  1. Start from within a record of an address set you wish to run your template from. Locate the template you wish to edit by clicking on the Document Viewer button, then “New” and then “Document”

  1. Click on the “Select” button, find your existing template and then click “Ok”

  1. Once selected, ensure the “Tick this box for normal documents…” box is not ticked, then click “Ok”

  1. The template will now open in Word. Make changes such as amendments to text or the addition or removal of merge fields.
  2. Once you are ready to save your edited template, click on “File”, then “Save as” and finally “Browse”

  1. As Microsoft Word will not allow the direct overwriting of the original template, you must save your edited version with a slightly changed name. Once you have changed the name, change the “Save as type to “Word 97-2003 Template” and then navigate to the Template folder, to save your edited template there.

  1. You can now choose to retain or delete the template which has been superseded by your edited one. Your new template will now be available to use in Durell.
