Updating Durell (with UAC Guide)

  1. Ensure you are signed in as an administrator, while performing the update to Durell.
  2. Turn off User Account Controls in the registry. Once you have opened the registry, you can find the setting for User Account Controls here:


  1. Turn it off by changing EnableLUA to zero. (Turn UAC on after the update by changing it back to 1):


  1. Any change to EnableLUA will need to be followed by a reboot of the server. Changes to EnableLUA will not take effect, unless the server is rebooted.
  2. Once User Account Controls has been turned off, ensure all users are now logged out of Durell.
  3. Run the update from the desktop of the server. When you have been sent or have downloaded an update, it will normally look like this on the desktop:


  1. Double click the icon. Click “Ok” on the next box, then type the update password into the box after that:

  1. Once you have clicked “Ok” on the password box, the update will run. Once it has finished and the window has disappeared, open Durell. Click “OK” on the first window that appears and then click “Yes, update now” in the final box that pops up:

  1. After clicking on “Yes, update now” the update will run, close and then the sign-in screen will be displayed.
  2. Sign in to Durell. If you are asked to install any DotNet components, just click “Yes” until they are installed. After this, users will be able to sign in normally
